Carbon Footprint Assessment of Loan Portfolio and Internal Operation for IDLC Finance Limited (2024)

Future Carbon Limited conducted a comprehensive Carbon Footprint Assessment for IDLC Finance PLC, evaluating both its loan portfolio and internal operations. This pioneering initiative highlights IDLC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its alignment with global climate goals.

The assessment quantified the carbon emissions associated with IDLC’s financing activities and internal processes, offering a clear roadmap to minimize environmental impacts. This collaboration underscores Future Carbon’s expertise in supporting organizations to measure, manage, and mitigate their carbon footprint, empowering them to make data-driven, sustainable decisions.

Carbon Sequestration of BRAC NGO’s আমার বন Project: BRAC had planted more than 300,000 trees to lessen their carbon footprint. These tree-plantation projects, however, had not been assessed previously for their ability to offset carbon emissions and lower the carbon footprint. Therefore, in order to reduce the organization’s carbon footprint, the client planned to undertake a research study to identify and comprehend the scale of tree plantation required in comparison to the carbon being produced by the organization’s various activities. The analysis of carbon sequestration was successfully done by Future Carbon in the year 2022 and reported to BRAC. This project was a unique effort and FCL looks forward to take on such projects in future to help reduce carbon burden.

Green Establishment and Sustainability Assessment of The PALACE LUXURY Resorts, Bahubal, Habiganj: Future Carbon is the only firm in Bangladesh who has had the experience of conducting a Green Establishment/Project Sustainability Assessment. We have successfully conducted such an assessment for The PALACE Luxury Resorts, Bahubal, Habiganj which is a unique endeavour in the hospitality sector of the country. This assessment identified the energy and resource use intensity and their associated GHG emissions and also referred to energy efficiency opportunities within the boundary.

 GHG Emission Modelling and Carbon Footprint Measurement for Bangladesh Bank: Worked with the Green Banking and CSR Department of Bangladesh Bank to provide a model for the financial sector in the country to measure carbon footprint and implement a monitoring plan to reduce GHG emissions.

 Consultancy services for the development of a waste recycling CDM project for Waste Concern: Worked jointly with South Pole Carbon to assist the W2RF (Waste to Resource Fund – jointly created by UNESCAP and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) in the development of a programmatic CDM project using multiple technologies.

 Carbon Footprint Assessment of The PALACE LUXURY RESORTS, Habiganj, Bangladesh: Future Carbon had conducted the first Carbon Footprint Assessment in the hospitality sector in Bangladesh for this facility during its pre-operational phase to establish a baseline energy, resource and emissions pattern to help the management set an environment-friendly and sustainable operational plan in reducing its negative impact on the environment.
